The Spark

Something has been lit — you're in a season of active discovery.

You may not have the full picture yet, but something is stirring. There's a pull toward exploration, a willingness to try on new possibilities, and a sense that the next chapter won't look like a continuation of the last one. Direction is forming, not absent — and the energy you're bringing to the search is itself a signal worth trusting.

Exploration is not indecision — for someone at your stage, it's one of the most courageous things you can do.

From Cara Gray

In this short video, I talk about what I’ve noticed in people who land here — and why the impulse to explore deserves more trust than most people give it.

What makes this posture distinct

The Spark is one of eight archetypes in the Future Identity Snapshot — a framework built around how people relate to the transition from primary career identity to what comes next.

What distinguishes The Spark from other postures is that something new is actively forming. You’re not stuck — you’re in motion. The direction hasn’t fully declared itself, but the willingness to search for it is already there, and that willingness is doing more work than it gets credit for.

The pressure at this stage is to commit before the picture is clear. Resist that. The most important thing right now is to stay in the exploration without collapsing it prematurely — and that’s the kind of work that’s difficult to do alone.
